A silhouetted boat on an inland river at sunset, real footage from a four day drift

AI video will not save your brand

AI can generate a video of a place you have never been, holding a product that does not exist. It is cheap, it is fast, and for most real businesses it is exactly the wrong tool. Here is why.

We are not against the technology. We use AI daily for the unglamorous parts of running a business. But we have watched a lot of brands rush at AI generated video this year, and most of it is quietly costing them the thing they were trying to build.

The problem is not quality, it is proof

AI video is getting good quickly. That is not the issue. The issue is that a generated video proves nothing. It cannot show your product surviving a real day, your workshop as it actually looks, or your customer saying something true. It can only show a convincing picture of those things.

For a brand whose whole case is that the thing works, that is a fatal gap. You cannot demonstrate durability with a render.

Your audience is better at spotting it than you think

People who fish know what a real day on the water looks like. Tradies know what a real site looks like. Farmers know what real machinery does in real mud. The audience for most regional and outdoor brands is made up of people who do the thing, and they clock the fake instantly, even when they cannot articulate why.

And the cost of being caught is not neutral. It is worse than posting nothing, because now they know you were willing to fake it.

What AI is genuinely good for

Plenty. Cutting a rough assembly, generating captions, cleaning audio, sorting through hours of footage to find the usable takes, drafting a description, planning a shoot. All of that is real time saved, and we use it.

The line we hold is simple. AI can help make the work. It does not replace the evidence. The footage of the real thing, in the real place, still has to exist.

The thing that becomes more valuable, not less

As generated content gets cheaper and more common, proof gets scarcer and therefore worth more. In two years, the video that is obviously real, with a real person and a real location, will be the one that stands out in a feed of synthetic content.

That is not a nostalgic argument. It is the same reason a photo of the actual house sells better than an artist's impression.

Where we stand

Our tagline is We Don't Fake It, and it is not a marketing line, it is an operating constraint. We film in the environment a product was built for, with the people who actually use it, in the conditions on the day. Sometimes that means a shoot is cold, wet and harder than it needed to be. That is usually the footage that ends up in the film.
