Our story

Meet the team

Two of us. Between us we have filmed national gear brands, a Lake Eildon documentary and a festival that went to American television, mostly within a few hours of home.

Co-Founder

Sam Rogers

Direction, cinematography, editing and the business side.

Sam is the first person you speak to and the person who ends up cutting your film. He runs the brief, the quote and the schedule, then shoots it and edits it. Nothing gets handed to a stranger halfway through.

He led SharkGuard end to end, from strategy and planning through filming, editing and delivery. He led Goodwin Build Co and Coffee Chakra the same way, and on both of those he built the website as well as shooting the content.

Before OAA he spent more than seven and a half years in the real estate industry, which is why the property work reads like it was made by someone who knows what actually sells a home rather than someone photographing rooms.

On recent jobs: cinematography and editing for 13 Fishing, filming and editing for Suzuki x Social Fishing, editing and post for Weber, and on-screen for Denali.

Co-Founder

Jake Miles

Filmmaking, creative, and the one in front of the camera when the job needs it.

Jake shoots. He works alongside Sam on the bigger jobs and covers trips solo when the schedule needs two places at once.

He led the filmmaking on the Denali Kakadu II product ad at Mt Buffalo, was videographer on the Weber shoot, and worked the Man From Snowy River Festival alongside Sam and Elias Jackson for broadcast in the United States.

He is also often the bloke on screen. When a brand needs someone who genuinely fishes, hunts or uses the gear rather than a model pretending to, that is usually Jake. He was on-screen talent for both 13 Fishing and XTM Performance.

On recent jobs: filming and editing across Mansfield Hunting & Fishing, La Fiera and McGregor Machinery.

We live where we shoot

We are based in North East Victoria, so we know the terrain, the seasons, the light and the access. That knowledge is not a nice extra. It is the difference between a shoot that gets the shot and a shoot that waits for weather it did not plan for.

Outdoor and adventure is our home ground. Hunting, fishing, four wheel drive, gear brands. But a good story does not care where it happens, so we also film food and drink, trades and manufacturing, schools, festivals and weddings.

We Don't Fake It

Brands in this space get pulled apart by their own audiences for faking it. A staged campfire, a hero shot taken in a car park, a hunt that clearly never happened. Anyone can spot it, and it costs the brand more than the film was worth.

So we film the real thing. The ute is genuinely muddy, the fish is genuinely on the line, and the campsite genuinely got set up at dusk. That is harder, slower and colder. It is also the entire point.

How we work

Two people, pitch to delivery. You deal with Sam and Jake and nobody else. There is no account manager relaying your brief to a shooter who has never spoken to you, and nothing gets lost between the call and the camera.
